This Week in Chocolate: October 11 – 18

Our weekly roundup of chocolate related news, politics and products. See what’s happened every Sunday.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Here’s my biggest piece of news: it’s my dad’s birthday. He’s also a chocolatier! I owe my love of chocolate to him so his birthday is big news to me. Happy birthday!

International Chocolate Awards

The winners of the ICA World Finals has just been announced. I don’t want to post any spoilers so go and take a look.

Conspiracy Busted

In the UK most people believe chocolate (confectionary) bars have been shrinking in weight over the years. It turns out that it’s only a half truth. Don’t get me started about Fudgsicles though. Either those have been shrinking or I’m still growing.

Lindt Goes Green

Chocolate superpower Lindt & Sprüngli Inc. will be converting their entire operations to run on 100% green energy. Granted I don’t know much about energy and the environment but 100% green sounds nice!

Time Magazine has Slow News Week

So they’ve run this article about a restaurant that’s serving Star Wars themed chocolates. Coincidentally I’m also experiencing a slow news week so that’s a perfect fit!

New Worlds Largest Box of Chocolate

Detroit now houses a 313 foot long box of chocolate. This is the unofficial world record until someone breaks it. I’m not sure exactly how that works but that’s what it says. Well Mr.Big, it looks like you have some competition.

What a slow week. That’s all the “news” for now! See you next Sunday.

Being the son of a chocolatier Chris has always enjoyed talking about chocolate as much as he loves eating it. He’s an artist and designer as well as a co-founder of the Chocolate Codex.
