Week 21: May 17–24
Good morning! Here is what’s happened in the chocolate world for the 21st week of 2015.
Côte d’Ivoire is the largest producer of cocoa beans on the planet but president Alassane Ouattara has just toured the country’s first chocolate factory. It is well known that chocolate isn’t a part of the diet in Côte d’Ivoire but this all could change in the near future.
Science says that cacao is the perfect cure to the afternoon slump according to Inc. Magazine. I pretty sure that that’s common knowledge but it’s nice to have a scientific confirmation that, once again, chocolate is good.
The US FDA has done a recent study that shows many dark chocolate bar contain milk products. Out of 100 dark bars 61 were found to contain dairy. So, basically, if it says “may contain milk” it means that it probably contains milk. Good to know if you’re sensitive to lactose. No word on which bars they chose besides revealing they were all American.
Local man eats chocolate in every meal and is super healthy. Ok, he’s not local, and this article is from Vice, and it’s not exactly news to most chocolate fans that chocolate isn’t bad for you, but I do get to use a clickbait title and that’s fun.
A design student made these chocolate Nike Air Max 90’s. There are many terrible high heels made out of chocolate but not many sneakers. Judging by the look of it these were made from baby Air Max’s. Get on it Nike!
Well there you have it! That’s your news for Week 21 of 2015. Enjoy your cocoa and we’ll see you next week.
Being the son of a chocolatier Chris has always enjoyed talking about chocolate as much as he loves eating it. He’s an artist and designer as well as a co-founder of the Chocolate Codex.
