Our weekly roundup of chocolate related news, politics and products. See what’s happened every Sunday.
Happy International Chocolate Milk Day
I know we just did an International Chocolate Day two weeks ago but today is International Chocolate Milk Day. I’m having one right now. I have one everyday actually so it’s one part bandwagon-er and one part luck. Also mine has no dairy so it’s technically not milk, but I think that’s close enough. Just avoid this.
Northwest Chocolate Festival
Is next week. There is way too much stuff going on there to cover here but Jasmine will be attending so make sure you say hi if you see her!
Chocolate Factory Bomb Threat
What do they say about hating your job? A Virginia man wanted to get fired from his job at a Callebaut factory so he called in a bomb threat. Smart. Real smart. (Should have called in a bombe threat. Get it? (Sorry I’m trying to get fired here.))
Strange Anti-aging Chocolate Invented
Yes believe it or not a professor from Cambridge (no less) has invented a chocolate that’s good for your skin. I quote that just 100g of this chocolate has “astaxanthin to the level of 300-400g of wild Alaskan salmon.” Okay! That sounds great I think!
Lindt Wins Right to Make Chocolate Bear
Lindt defeats Haribo and now is legally able to make chocolate bears. I know: the law is weird.
Theo Chocolate Releases New Book
Theo Chocolate has put together a book that covers their story, and includes recipes as well. So it’s pretty much win-win-win if you like craft chocolate, recipes and/or books. Pretty great!
That’s all the news for this week! See you next Sunday.
Being the son of a chocolatier Chris has always enjoyed talking about chocolate as much as he loves eating it. He’s an artist and designer as well as a co-founder of the Chocolate Codex.
